Job Performance
- Continue to build and publish web-based tutorials, in these three directions:
- complete the “basic” set of tutorials that any academic library should provide its patrons
- work closely with the subject librarians in order to create high quality discipline-specific research tutorials
- use the New Media Literacies as a platform to create tutorials to help Baylor students become literate in the language and skills of the participatory culture of New Media, particularly in how the new literacies relate to academic research and creative pursuits
- Plan and implement an assessment program for the online learning materials on the library website.
- Continue to investigate and evaluate emerging technologies for possible implementation in reference and instructional services.
- In collaboration with the Academy for Teaching and Learning and the Electronic Library, find and partner with faculty members who are interested in using technology to further information literacy goals for their classes.
- Continue to build good relationships between the library and my consultant departments, particularly in:
- increasing the number of faculty who are involved with the material suggestion and selection process
- creating new information literacy programs to reach populations of students who could benefit from library or research-related instruction
- working closely with the honors students from my departments to help them do masters-level research for their honors theses.
- increasing the number of faculty who send their students to me for individual research help.
- Continue to serve as the chair of the ERD Makeover Taskforce; complete the project using open source solutions, in order to provide an attractive, intuitive, user-friendly tool by which to find, evaluate and access electronic resources.
- Build and launch an “assignment calculator” service on the library’s website.
Professional Development
- Present at ACRL or ALA on cutting edge topics in instructional technologies and librarianship.
- Publish more articles in professional journals, both as a single author and in collaboration with other librarians.
- Continue with membership in the ALA RUSA Virtual Reference Services Committee; serve successfully as committee chair for a term.
- Attend the ACRL Immersion Program in order to learn more about instructional theory, information literacy program development, and leadership in particular related to e-learning or instructional technology.
- Investigate further education (either another masters degree or graduate certificate) in emerging media, instructional technology or design, or similar; when the timing/funding is right, enroll in the program.
Service
- Continue to serve on the Baylor University Teaching, Learning and Technology Committee and help it set up a good campus-wide communication strategy.
- Increase participation in campus service, such as Move-In Day and Commencement Marshalling.
- Serve as on the leadership committee in my neighborhood association.
